Now we're getting into the weeds.

Ideally, you would be aware of DST and not be setting your controllers up the day/week before the time change, to activate after the time change. You would wake up that morning and update the controllers automatically from your local device time through the web browser.

It's a problem, but it's an edge case.

This might be handled already because of local time in the browser.
